21 Ingenious Home Hacks to Save Time and Money This Year.

We all want our homes to be a haven of comfort and convenience. But sometimes, life gets in the way and we find ourselves struggling with everyday tasks.
Fear not! We’ve rounded up 21 ingenious home hacks that will simplify your life and make you wonder why you didn’t think of them sooner.
From organizing your kitchen to optimizing storage space, these clever tips will have you saying “Why didn’t I think of that?!”
1. Use duct tape to open stuck jars.
Just place a little tape on the side of the jar, twist, and it should open for you.
2. Block almost all ads on your desktop, computer or phone.

If you aren’t using an ad blocker yet, I am begging you to try one. I am not exaggerating when I say it will change your life.
A good ad blocker will eliminate virtually all of the ads you’d see on the internet.
No more YouTube ads, no more banner ads, no more pop-up ads, etc. It’s incredible.
Most people I know use Total Adblock (link here) – it’s $2.42/month, but there are plenty of solid options.
Ads also typically take a while to load, so using an ad blocker reduces loading times (typically by 50% or more). They also block ad tracking pixels to protect your privacy, which is nice.

3. See if this company will pay off your credit card debt for you.
Debt can make you feel hopeless – even if you’re responsible about making payments on time, the interest sometimes prevents you from paying off the debt.
But, believe it or not, plenty of companies (National Debt Relief, for example) are willing to help you with your debt.
Here’s how it typically works:
- You typically need $10k+ in overall debt (credit cards, medical debt, etc. combined).
- A company like National Debt Relief (there are plenty of others, too) negotiates with your credit card companies, banks, etc. to try and reduce your debt.
A lot of times you’ll end up paying less than you owe. Here’s an example from NDR’s site:

*E.g. Angelic was $43,144 in debt and ended up saving around $11k after working with NDR.
If things go well, you could be debt-free in 24-48 months or so. Here’s a calculator you can use to get a savings estimate, if you’re interested.
4. Back-up your photos and videos with this cheaper and smaller storage solution.

If you want to cut back on expenses this year, and declutter your home – take this as a sign to do just that.
The Photostick Omni is putting an end to bulky external hard drives and endless cloud subscriptions. This neat gadget backs up your photos and videos from your mobile phone in seconds (no tech skills required).
Download the free app, plug it in, and photos and videos are sorted and stored safely on The PhotoStick Omni.
Declutter your office and digital world while saving your favorite memories with The PhotoStick Omni.
5. Get paid to play Solitaire from your couch.

Sounds nuts, obviously, but the idea of playing cash solitaire as a side gig has been around for years, and can be surprisingly lucrative (if you’re good enough, anyway).
All you need is your iPhone, WiFi and a comfy seat.
The whole thing revolves around Solitaire Cash (a free iOS game).
The game itself is really simple: You play solitaire head-to-head against another real person. Whoever solves their deck the fastest wins real cash.
If you can get good at the game, it can be surprisingly lucrative: typically up to $80/game for the winner. Each game takes ~2 minutes, in my experience.
6. Use these self-cleaning, cooling sheets.

If you regularly wake up feeling hot and sweaty you might be interested in these sheets that claim to help you sleep cooler.
Miracle Sheets have these fancy bed sheets with silver threads that claim to prevent up to 99.7% of bacteria growth you’d typically find on cotton bedding.
And believe it or not, they claim you can wash them up to three times less often than regular bed sheets.
The silver lining is supposed to help you stay at the perfect temperature all night long, so you’ll stay cool all through the night.
7. Cut your auto insurance payment by $400+/year.

Ditch the high car insurance bill and watch the family fun fund grow. New bikes, movie nights, fancy meals – suddenly creating memorable moments becomes more affordable.
Believe it or not, the average American family still overspends by $461/year¹ on car insurance.
Here’s how to quickly see how much you’re being overcharged (takes maybe a couple of minutes):
- Pull up Coverage.com – it’s a free site that will compare offers for you
- Answer the questions on the page
- It’ll spit out a bunch of insurance offers for you.
That’s literally it. You’ll likely save yourself a bunch of money.

8. Clean your glasses with the same tech NASA uses to clean their lenses.

If you wear glasses, no doubt you’ve got sprays, microfiber cloths, wet wipes, etc. spotted all around your house, bag, and car because fingerprints, dust, and oils can turn the clearest lenses into a blurry mess.
But, fear not – Peeps carbon glasses cleaner uses advanced technology to capture and trap smudges in one wipe. No harsh chemicals or streaks, just clear, clean glasses.
This is the ultimate glasses cleaning hack and is guaranteed to make your home (and your glasses, of course) much cleaner.
9. These OTC hearing aids are a game changer.

If you’ve noticed your house is getting louder and louder – maybe someone is suddenly increasing the volume on the TV, speaking a bit louder, asking for you to repeat what you said more often, they might be struggling with their hearing.
It might be worth checking out the Audien OTC hearing aids. These nifty devices are not only more affordable than traditional hearing aids but also customizable with four programs tailored to different types of hearing loss.
They’re incredibly discreet, making them a practical and thoughtful solution for anyone grappling with hearing issues.
10. Quiet snoring and give everyone a better night sleep.

If snoring is leaving you (or worse, your partner) awake all night, then the ZQuiet might just be the answer.
This mouthpiece, designed by dentists, tackles snoring in a gentle, non-invasive way. No more sleepless nights for you or your partner.
Simply pick the right size and slip it in while you snooze. It’s soft, flexible, and discreet—no complicated setup needed.
A good night’s sleep is so crucial for our overall well-being and as it turns out studies are backing that up. Use ZQuiet to get a better night sleep and your entire household will thank you.
11. Get paid 10x more on your savings account.
If you’re like the average American, your savings account pays you virtually zero interest (typically under 0.3% a year, in my experience).
But believe it or not, plenty of banks are willing to offer you 10x that rate.
Barclays, for example, has an account that pays a whopping ~4%/year right now (as of the time that I’m writing this).
(E.g. if you store $100k in a 4% interest savings account today, in a year you’ll have netted $4,000 from interest alone)
So if you’re saving for a house, vacation, car, whatever, even a small boost in interest can help you reach your financial goals faster.

12. Keep a box of dryer sheets next to your sink.

Check out this video (link here). It shows you just soak your pan with hot water, soap and a dryer sheet. Then the greasy grime will come right off.
That’s all (for now).
